Sunroc Corporation Bluffdale Office & Manufacturing Facility

Sunroc is a supplier of concrete, asphalt, aggregate, masonry block, construction materials. This new facility includes three separate concrete masonry structures: a block manufacturing plant, a retail office/showroom space, and a large storage building. The Plant is an approximately 18,200-sf CMU building that included 18 kilns built out of masonry and installation of manufacturing equipment that completely automates the production of the CMU. The 4,900-sf retail building is a CMU and metal frame building that houses a showroom, dispatch office, conference room, employee break area, and administrative offices. The 4,500-sf storage shed is a CMU building with three large overhead coiling doors to store finished materials manufactured in the on-site plant. During construction, Big-D managed challenges like extensive Owner, design team, and vendor coordination to ensure proper fit for the kilns and unique weather conditions specific to that area of the Salt Lake valley which pose more frequent temperature fluctuations in both winter and summer and constant wind.
